Nat Walpole is a nonbinary artist based in Glasgow, they produce work which explores queer bodies, identity, narrative, and the self. Working in painting, comics, and printmaking they seek to develop a visual language that can move freely between different mediums with narrative elements reappearing in different formats besides recurring visual motifs and symbols. Whilst their work is often drawn from lived experiences, narratives are usually treated in a metaphorical way creating surreal stories that are more ambiguous than straightforward autobiography. They are drawn to the grotesque and the camp, and incorporate influences from modernist painting to shoujo manga.
